National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week will take place from November 11 - 17, 2007 and is an annual event co-sponsored by the National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness.
During this week organizations and communities across the country will help raise awareness of the problems of and solutions to hunger and homelessness. You can view the National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week website for more information or download the event manual (PDF).
This is a much needed week for programs and for people to learn more about hunger and homelessness. I feel that people are not very aware of what is happening in other countries and in ours as well. Children are being born malnourished and families not being able to afford a house or rent, and not even able to afford food for their families. With this going on, others should be aware of it, and the amount of people it is affecting in our world.
I'm glad to see that a week in November is devoted to this, so more people can help donate or even just help donate their time for others in need. With more people coming together to help organizations will just bring us one step closer to ending homelessness and hunger.

I too agree that this is needed to promote and get people informed as well as involved. This is the first step to fixing an ongoing problem. Thanks to these organizations for putting this together.

The colaboration of the UN with different agencies to raise money for world hunger is exactly what is needed. It is good to see the UN getting involved in areas it can really impact. This is an amazing thing..

They will be exposed to organizations working on hunger, homelessness, and poverty issues. This will give them the opportunity to do their share and reach out to help those in need. This will help the organizations grow which will help more people in the long run because they will have more support

devoting a whole week to raising awareness about hunger is great! Half the battle is informing people of the issue and possible solutions. I don't think the problem is people are too selfish to do anything, I think they just don't know what they can do to help. The more awareness we raise and the more support this issue gets, the greater chance we have of beating hunger.
